How Does CloudFuze Transfer Permissions from Google Drive to Google Shared Drives?

All members of a Shared Drive can view all files and folders on the drive. Members with manager access (also called “Shared Drive Managers”) and Google Workspace admins can add other people as members and set their access level. What Are the Steps Involved During My Drive To Shared Drive Migration?

Let us check the steps to migrate data from My Drive to Shared Drives:

Step 1: Log in to the Cloudfuze Account

To Move Files from Google Drive to Shared Drives, log in with your credentials into the CloudFuze web app. Please remember that CloudFuze is free to try. You can easily migrate up to 3 users or 10 GB of files to test the CloudFuze platform.

Step 2: Click on Multi User Migration

After login with your credentials, you will see various options on your screen. Please click on Multi User Migration.

Step 3: Cloudfuze Dashboard

After clicking on Multi-User Migration, you will see the personal and business cloud dashboard.

Step 4: Select the Source

Visit the Business Clouds section. There, select Google Drive and enter the login credentials.

Step 5: Click on Manage Clouds

After selecting the source, click on Manage Clouds, source name Google Drive will appear on Manage Clouds.

Step 6: Select Destination

As explained about the source selection, similarly, select destination Shared Drives, so from the options on Business Clouds, select the Shared Drive and then sign in with credentials.

Step 7: Source and Destinations Added

Once both source and destination are selected, check that both source (Google Drive) and destination clouds (Shared Drive) are added on Manage Clouds.

Step 8: Select Team Migration

On the left blue panel, select Team Migration to configure the source and destination cloud.

Step 9: Mapping User Account

You need to prepare a user mapping CSV file and upload it to the CloudFuze webapp. This step is crucial for mapping the user accounts from Google Drive to Google Shared Drives in the webapp.

Step 10: Permissions Mapping

Check that permission of Source Users is mapped with the Destination Users. Apart from configuring permission mapping, you can also edit the permissions.

Step 11: Migration Options

Once the permissions are mapped, check on the Migration Options and select the features you want to migrate.

Step 12: Preview

This is the preview of all the parameters you have selected to migrate from Google Drive to Google Shared Drives.

Step 13: Start the Migration 

If everything looks good in the Preview stage, initiate the data transfer process by clicking on the Start Migration button.

Step 14: In Progress

During the migration process, visit Reports on the left blue panel and check the migration progress.

Step 15: Migration Completed

The completed message will appear after files are copied from Google Drive to Google Shared Drives.
