SharePoint vs ShareFile
SharePoint Online and ShareFile both offer business-grade file/folder sharing and security features. However, SharePoint Online is much more than just a shared drive. It also functions as an intranet to allow seamless syncing of other Microsoft 365 apps, including OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Calendar, and more.
ShareFile to SharePoint Migration Challenges for Businesses
Businesses planning to migrate ShareFile to SharePoint face several technical challenges primarily due to the limitations that Microsoft has set in SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business. The first SharePoint Online limitation that creates migration challenges is lack of support for specific special characters in file and folder names.
SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business do not support these special characters in file and folder names in Microsoft 365:
Another limitation that makes it challenging for businesses to migrate ShareFile to SharePoint is file path length. Microsoft does not support the total decoded file path length of more than 400 characters in SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business.
However, with a fully developed tool like CloudFuze X-Change, businesses can overcome these challenges with automated processes.
CloudFuze automatically replaces unsupported special characters with either an underscore (_) or a hyphen (-) and creates separate folders for files with 400+ path length.

Step 5: Configure the Source and Destination Clouds
The next step is to go to the Teams Migration section and configure ShareFile as the source and SharePoint Online as the destination cloud.
Step 6: Map the Users
In this step, you have to map user accounts from ShareFile to OneDrive. It is best to finalize the user account list before proceeding with this step.
CloudFuze supports auto-mapping and CSV mapping.
Step 7: Customize Permissions Mapping if Needed
CloudFuze’s Permissions Mapping stage gives businesses the option to customize permissions mapping if required.
Step 8: Choose the Features to Migrate
In the Options stage, business users can choose all migration features, apply specific filters, choose the migration type (one-time or delta) and add people as recipients for migration reports.

The Preview stage gives an overview of all the migration parameters, making it easy for businesses to review and finalize them.
